You know the value of networking. It’s an opportunity to meet other people, build your network, and learn how others in your industry are solving problems or implementing new tools.

You’d love to attend that event that would bump up your knowledge and connections.

But man, it’s hard to walk into a room where everyone already seems to know each other. It’s easy to feel like a fish out of water!

What if it doesn’t have to be this way? What if all it takes to feel comfortable at a gathering is a few easy-to -earn skills and some practice?

I no longer believe some people are naturally good at talking to people and others aren’t.

Do you really want to attend that networking event but don’t know what you’d say— or to whom— when you walk into the room?

Heading to a conference and wondering who you’ll talk to at lunch and networking hours?

Conversation is a skill. Skills can be learned and practiced. Human Skills Practice offers guided practice sessions that help make conversation easier.

Any of these sound familiar?

✓ You opt out of industry events because you worry about what to say when meeting new people.

✓ You circle the room at an event because you feel awkward joining existing conversations.

✓ You get trapped talking to the same person because you don’t know how to end a conversation.

✓ You really want to meet that colleague from the opposite coast but you don’t know how to approach them.

✓ When you do attend an event, you replay conversations long after they're over.

✓ You wish talking to people felt more natural.

Do you know how many people experience these situations? A lot! But there is good news!

Conversation is a Skill. Skills Can be Learned and Practiced.

Human Skills Practice offers people an opportunity to learn and practice conversation skills in guided and relaxed practice sessions.

What a Session Actually Looks Like

You don't need to become more outgoing, more interesting, or more like someone else.

The goal is simply to feel more comfortable being yourself while talking to other people— whether it’s at a conference, an industry lunch, or on the playground.

There are wonderful people all around you. There are valuable connections to make. There are so many people to learn from!

Human Skills Practice exists to help make those connections feel a little easier—one conversation at a time.

Here's What Happens When You Show Up

We Learn a Practical Skill.

Maybe it's how to start, join, or end a conversation. Maybe it's how to keep one going. Maybe it's how to listen well, ask better questions, or handle awkward moments.

Each skill is designed to be useful right away.

We Practice that Skill.

Practice in a guided, supportive environment.

You don't need to know what you're doing when you arrive. We'll provide the structure, guidance, and support. We even handle those awkward few minutes before the session gets started.

All you have to do is show up. We've got you.

You Try it Out.

Try it out in real life.

Between sessions, you'll have simple opportunities to practice what you've learned. Nothing overwhelming—just small, thoughtful challenges that we'll have already practiced together.

You're not doing this alone.

You Grow.

Like any other skill, conversation gets easier with practice.

Each time you show up, you'll build a little more comfort, confidence, and connection.

Human Skills Practice offers guided conversation sessions for people who want talking to other people to feel a little easier.

Each session focuses on a practical skill and gives you the chance to try it out in real conversations. You'll learn, experiment, and practice in a supportive environment designed to take the pressure off.

Think of it like piano lessons—but for conversation.

Most of us would never expect to sit down at a piano and play confidently without lessons and practice. Yet many of us expect ourselves to be naturally comfortable in every social situation. Human Skills Practice exists because conversation is a skill, too.

The good news? You don't have to perform a recital. You just have to show up and practice.

And if piano was never your thing, don't worry—this is a lot more fun.

Most People are Never Taught This Stuff

Conversation, connection, and communication are skills — not personality traits.

I used to think some people were just naturally good at talking to people and the rest of us… weren't. Now I know that converastion is a skill and skills can be learned, practiced, and developed.

Many thoughtful, capable people avoid industry event simply because they’ve never had a place to learn or practice.

Who This is For

Human Skills Practice is for people who know showing up will help them build their network, increase job proficiency, and open professional opportunities but avoid them because they don’t know what to say to people.

Our sessions are designed to help you build comfort, confidence, and connection through practice.

No pressure. No perfection. Just opportunities to learn, practice, and grow.

You might be in the right place if...

✓ 2 am seems to be the time you judge the conversation you had with a colleague that afternoon (or ten years go)… and your verdict is not good.

✓ You scout out the hors d’oeuvres table as quickly as you can at gatherings… if you have food in your mouth you can’t talk anyway.

✓ You sit in your car outside an event willing yourself to go in. You know you aren’t fooling yourself with your “good reason” to go home instead but 30 minutes later you find yourself in flannels watching your favorite show on the couch.

✓ You believe some people are just naturally good at talking to people and the rest of us… aren’t.

✓ You want to be comfortable walking into networking and industry events, meals with colleagues, and other opportunities that will advance your career but until now didn’t know it was an option.

Human Skills Practice is for anyone who wants talking to other people to feel more natural.

There are wonderful people and valuable connections all around you. Human Skills Practice exists to help make those connections feel a little easier.

This is not therapy, crisis support, or clinical treatment. Human Skills Practice is a skills-based practice experience focused on communication, connection, and real-world interaction practice.

About Human Skills Practice

I believe many of us are feeling increasingly disconnected. After years of more screen time, remote interaction, and less face-to-face practice, everyday conversation can feel harder than it used to — even for thoughtful, capable people.

We learn math, science, writing, and sports through instruction and practice. Conversation, connection, and communication are often treated differently. Many people assume they should simply know how to do them naturally.

The reality is that these are skills.

Skills can be learned. Skills can be improved. Skills can be practiced.

Human Skills Practice was created to offer a supportive, judgment-free place to develop the skills that help conversations feel more comfortable, natural, and meaningful.

Whether you're navigating networking events, workplace conversations, social gatherings, or everyday interactions, Human Skills Practice provides opportunities to learn, experiment, and practice in real-world ways.

The goal isn't perfection. It's connection.

Because better conversations start with practice.

What you practice in private you will be rewarded for in public.”

I've always enjoyed people, but that didn't mean conversations felt easy.

For years, I struggled with social anxiety, overthinking, and feeling uncomfortable in situations that seemed effortless for everyone else. I often found myself replaying conversations, worrying about what to say, or feeling disconnected even when surrounded by people.

Eventually, I realized that confidence in conversation wasn't something people were simply born with. Like any other skill, it could be practiced.

Over time, I learned practical tools that helped me stay present, connect more naturally, and feel more comfortable in social and professional interactions. As I practiced, I became more confident, built stronger relationships, and created a life filled with meaningful connection and supportive people.

Human Skills Practice grew from that experience.

My goal isn't to teach people how to perform or become someone they're not. It's to provide a supportive place to practice the skills that help conversations feel more natural, authentic, and enjoyable.

Because better conversations start with practice.

Through my work in community organizations, volunteer leadership, customer-facing roles, and as host of the Real Women's Work podcast, I've spent years talking with people from all walks of life. Those experiences continue to shape the way I approach conversation, connection, and communication.
